Originally discovered in 1842 by Austrian physicist Johann Christian Doppler, the Doppler effect produces data about objects based on the reverberation of sound waves. Once the sound waves bounce off of the desired target, the frequency is altered in return, and the size, density, and location of the object can be determined. Used in meteorology, modern warfare, satellite technology, and law enforcement, Doppler radar has implications beyond merely detecting the location and speed of a particular object.

Summit Doppler’s fetal heart monitors feature large displays for indication of heart rate and battery status. With a rechargeable battery and audio recording options, LifeDop obstetrics models are designed for maximum sensitivity and durability. All non-directional probes are interchangeable between L150, L250 and L350 series models allowing for versatility in a clinical setting.

While Doppler products are most commonly associated with fetal heart rates, Doppler imaging is also used in a vascular assessment of a patient’s heart and circulatory system. The Vantage ABI system and LifeDop ABI system conduct fast, accurate screenings to detect early signs of Peripheral Artery Disease and other cardiovascular disorders. With a speedy input, large display and blood pressure cuffs for obtaining pressures and ankle waveforms, it is possible to evaluate a patient’s blood flow through the heart to their periphery with one, easy-to-use instrument.
