Summit Compact Medical Vaccine Refrigerator Description:
Accucold’s MED2 series puts the most commonly requested features into a quality line of all-refrigerators and freezers specially designed to store vaccines and other sensitive materials in medical, scientific, pharmaceutical, and laboratory institutions.
The Summit FF28LWHMED2 Compact Medical Vaccine Refrigerator is a compact all-refrigerator sized for countertop use. It comes in a white finish with a blue top-mounted control panel that allows users to adjust and monitor the temperature without opening the door. A hospital grade ‘green dot’ cord offers added safety in high traffic environments and a factory-installed lock provides keyed security for sensitive items.
As recommended by the CDC and VFC programs, the FF28LWHMED2 is equipped with a NIST calibrated thermometer that displays the current, minimum, and maximum temperatures to the nearest tenth of a degree with a readout viewable in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Each FF28LWHMED2 ships with a certificate of calibration for your records. The thermometer includes an audible alarm to warn users if the interior has gone out of the programmed temperature range. The buffered temperature probe is encased in a glycol-filled bottle and secured inside the fixed center wire shelf to best simulate the temperature of other stored contents, resulting in the utmost accuracy for temperature reporting. We include a pre-installed 3/8″ probe hole for users who wish to install additional monitoring equipment.
The 2.4 cu.ft. interior capacity includes wire shelving for optimum circulation, with one center fixed shelf to keep the temperature probe in place anda removable half shelf that can be positioned above the compressor step. This unit has a flat door liner as recommended by the CDC to protect stored items from too much exposure to ambient temperature when the door is opened. An internal fan ensures the interior is evenly cooled from top to bottom.
All MED2 series units are assembled in the USA from domestic and imported components. The FF28LWHMED2 can be paired with a matching all-freezer (FS30LMED2). This unit can also be customized with additional features, including a self-closing door or USB temperature logger with a digital display. Contact our product specialists to learn more. Products in the MED2 series come with a two year warranty on parts and labor and a five year warranty on the compressor.
*NOTE: This unit’s thermostat is pre-set for Celsius. If you prefer Fahrenheit, add complimentary option DTMEDF or let your sales representative know upon order.
NOTE: Accucold refrigerators are purpose-built to the support meeting the current CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines for the storage of vaccines. At this time, Accucold refrigerators have not been evaluated to the new NSF 456 standard. As referenced in the current Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit, these units incorporate microprocessor controls and forced air circulation for stable operation between 2 and 8ºC. For additional temperature assurance, the CDC recommends a calibrated digital data logger (DDL), which can be added with the factory-installed option DL2B or addition of the DL2BKit accessory.

Shipping FAQ
How long does shipping take after placing an order?
Estimated lead time for shipping is usually 5-7 business days when the unit is in stock.
Is international shipping available and what should I consider for Melbourne, Australia?
Yes — international shipping is available. For delivery to Melbourne, Australia you should account for:
• Import duties, customs clearance and GST.
• Site access: ensure doorways/elevators/corridors can handle approximately 47 cm width × 45 cm depth and allow approx. 88 cm front clearance for door-open.
• Electrical compatibility: U.S. model is 115 V AC / 60 Hz — for Australia (230 V / 50 Hz) ensure you order the correct export variant or use a certified step-down transformer installed by a licensed electrician.
How is the unit packaged for transit and what site requirements should be met?
The unit ships boxed and palletized; unpacked footprint approx. 68 cm H × 47 cm W × 45 cm D; door-open depth approx. 88 cm. Delivery path must be level, firm and free of obstructions from vehicle to final installation location.
What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged or delayed?
On delivery, inspect the outer packaging and unit for visible damage. Photograph any damage, retain the packaging and delivery receipt, and contact your supplier promptly with your order/tracking details to initiate a freight claim or arrange replacement.
Application FAQ
How do I install and set up the FF28LWHMED2?
1. Place the unit upright on a firm, level indoor surface in a climate-controlled environment; allow adequate clearance behind/top and approx. 88 cm in front for full door swing.
2. Connect to a dedicated grounded outlet matching the model’s voltage specification.
3. Power on the unit, set the digital controller to the target +2 °C to +8 °C range, and allow several hours (typically 2–4 h) for the interior to stabilize before placing sensitive contents.
What best practices should I follow when using this refrigerator?
• Place stored items with spacing for airflow; avoid overcrowding.
• Label items (batch number, date/time) and implement first-in/first-out (FIFO) rotation if applicable.
• Minimize door-open duration; use external monitoring/display for checks instead of frequent access.
• Regularly inspect door gasket/seal, hinges and lock; ensure the unit remains level and keep interior surfaces clean.
What should I do if a temperature excursion or power interruption occurs?
If the internal temperature rises above or falls below the +2 °C to +8 °C range or a power interruption occurs:
• Record the event: date/time, observed temperature and impacted contents.
• Transfer critical items to validated backup refrigeration until conditions stabilize.
• Investigate root cause (e.g., door left open, ambient heat load, power/sensor fault).
• Once stable temperatures return within the acceptable range, inspect stored contents for integrity before resuming routine use.
What maintenance and verification routines are recommended?
• Monthly: Check door gasket/seal, hinges/lock; ensure unit remains level.
• Quarterly: Clean interior and exterior surfaces; verify fan operation, alarm and probe port functionality.
• Periodically: Review any stored temperature log data (if monitoring is used), verify calibration certificates and maintain documented service/maintenance logs for compliance.
