Summit 24″ Wide Built-In Vaccine Freezer Description:
Accucold manufactures purpose-built freezers designed to meet the rigorous standards of NSF 456 for the stable storage of vaccines and other pharmaceuticals.
The Summit VT65MLVAC456 24″ Wide Built-In Vaccine Freezer is a 24″ wide all-freezer with a front-breathing design and fully finished exterior to allow built-in installation under counters or freestanding use. The digital microprocessor temperature controls are pre-set and locked at -30ºC to prevent accidental adjustments (if you need to adjust the temperature, contact our Technical Support team). As recommended by VFC programs and the CDC Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit, this unit includes a NIST calibrated thermometer that displays the current, minimum, and maximum temperatures to the nearest tenth of a degree with an external readout viewable in Celsius or Fahrenheit. A two-year certificate of calibration is included for your facility’s records. The thermometer features an audible alarm to warn users if the interior has gone out of the programmed temperature range. The buffered temperature probe is encased in a glycol-filled bottle to best simulate the temperature of other stored contents, resulting in the utmost accuracy for temperature reporting. We include a pre-installed 3/8″ probe hole for users who wish to install additional monitoring equipment.
This freezer’s temperature is pre-set and locked at -30ºC to prevent accidental temperature adjustments (if you need to change the temperature, contact our Technical Support team for assistance). The extra thick insulation and static manual defrost cooling system offer reliable temperature stability. The overall capacity is 3.2 cu.ft., with a 1.85 cu.ft. of usable space for vaccine storage. Three slide-out drawers on fixed shelves allow you to store contents easily. The drawers are made from clear plastic, allowing you to view contents while protecting them from warmer air when the door is opened. As required by the NSF/ANSI 456 standards, the interior includes a defrost indicator to alert users when it is necessary to defrost.
The Summit VT65MLVAC456 24″ Wide Built-In Vaccine Freezer features a factory-installed lock located towards the top of the door for convenient access, with two keys included. It ships with a right hand door swing (for the door to open from the left, add upgrade LHD). The door is self-closing to help protect stored items. The hospital grade cord includes a green dot plug for a more secure connection in wall outlets. For this same unit sized to fit under lower ADA compliant counters, see the VT65MLBIVAC456ADA.
*NOTE: This unit’s thermostat is pre-set for Celsius. If you prefer Fahrenheit, add complimentary option DTMEDF or let your sales representative know upon order.
ABOUT NSF 456: NSF/ANSI 456 is a voluntary standard introduced in 2021 that was designed to establish the performance and construction requirements for vaccine refrigeration. Models certified to this standard undergo strict testing to confirm temperatury consistency. All Accucold units approved to NSF 456 for vaccine storage are certified by an independent testing agency.

Product FAQ
What is the VT65MLVAC456 and what is it designed for?
The VT65MLVAC456 is a 24″ (≈ 61 cm) wide built-in all-freezer certified to the vaccine-storage standard. It offers approximately 52 L (≈ 1.85 cu ft) capacity and is engineered for clinical or pharmacy use requiring ultra-low temperature frozen storage.
What temperature range and control features does it support?
It operates in a range of about –15 °C to –35 °C, with the controller typically preset and locked near –30 °C. It uses a digital microprocessor with external read-out for current and high/low interior temperatures and a buffered probe to monitor stored-product conditions.
What alarms, monitoring and security features are included?
It includes audible and visual high/low temperature alarms, door-ajar alert, power-failure indication, remote alarm contact outputs, a dedicated probe access port, and a keyed factory-installed lock for secure storage in healthcare settings.
What construction and usability features support its healthcare application?
Features a front-breathing design for built-in or freestanding placement, manual-defrost static cooling for greater temperature stability, hospital-grade power cord, adjustable drawers inside, magnetic door gasket, and sealed-back white cabinet for easy cleaning and flexible installation.
Shipping FAQ
What are the exterior dimensions and shipping weight?
Approximate external size: 86 cm H × 60 cm W × 60 cm D (≈ 33.75″ × 23.63″ × 23.5″). Shipping weight is about 48 kg (≈ 105 lb).
What electrical and installation requirements apply?
Operates on 115 V AC / 60 Hz with ~1.3 amps. Requires a dedicated grounded outlet, level surface, and adequate ventilation clearance—especially for built-in under-counter installation.
What steps should be taken during unpacking and placement?
Inspect the unit on delivery for visible damage. If it was transported on its side allow it to sit upright for several hours before powering. Ensure the unit is level, confirm door-swing and ventilation clearance, and test controller and alarms before loading any contents.
What delivery method is typical for this model?
Given its specification and certification, the unit often ships via palletized freight. Confirm access for off-loading, stable staging area and level installation site before delivery.
Application FAQ
Is this unit suitable for vaccine or pharmaceutical frozen cold-chain storage?
Yes — the VT65MLVAC456 is specifically designed for clinical frozen-storage applications, certified to vaccine-storage standard, supports the −15 °C to −35 °C range, and includes monitoring, alarm and security features for sensitive materials.
What daily best practices should be followed for operation?
Use a calibrated data logger at mid-drawer level, label and rotate stored inventory, avoid over-packing that may restrict airflow, minimize door-open time, and record daily internal temperature checks as part of your protocol.
What routine maintenance is recommended?
Because this is a manual-defrost freezer, monitor the frost buildup and defrost when necessary (e.g., when buildup >5–10 mm), clean condenser/vent areas semi-annually, verify alarm, probe and thermostat monthly, inspect door-gasket annually, and keep the unit level with unobstructed airflow.
What should be done in the event of a temperature excursion or alarm?
Document time and deviation, note affected contents, relocate items to approved backup frozen storage if needed, identify and correct the root cause (door left open, blocked airflow, power interruption), restore proper conditions and log corrective actions per facility procedure.
