Summit Upright Vaccine Storage Refrigerator Description:
Accucold’s Pharma-Vac Performance Series are upright all-refrigerators designed and purpose-built for pharmacy, medication, and vaccine applications to support meeting CDC/VFC guidelines, with a powder-coated silver ion handle that helps prevent germ spread.
The Summit ARG8PVDR Upright Vaccine Storage Refrigerator is an 8 cu.ft. all-refrigerator with an adjustable control range from +2 to +8ºC. The microprocessor temperature controller is externally located to minimize door openings, helping to protect stored contents from ambient temperature. The buffered temperature probe is encased in a glycol-filled bottle to better simulate temperature of the stored product, with an additional sensor that reads air temperature to ensure superior temperature control. The current and min/max temperature display is viewable in Celsius or Fahrenheit to the nearest tenth of a degree. The audible and visual temperature alarm sounds if the unit’s interior goes out of range. Additional alarms include a power failure alert, door open alarm, and sensor failure alarm. This unit is equipped with remote alarm contacts in the rear and a 1/2″ probe port on the right side to accept additional monitoring devices. A hospital grade cord with ‘green dot’ plug is also included for added safety in high traffic areas.
Inside, the Summit ARG8PVDR Upright Vaccine Storage Refrigerator utilizes adjustable cycle defrost operation to avoid temperature spikes. Optimized forced air cooling with two internal fans ensures excellent temperature stability and uniformity with rapid recovery after door openings. Four white powder-coated aluminum drawers provide ample storage and easy organization. Positioned on ball-bearing glides, the drawers offer full-extension for complete product access. Additionally, each drawer is removable allowing for transport of contents as needed. The drawers also lock into place for added security, while the perforated bottom ensures proper ventilation throughout the unit. LED internal lighting with an on/off rocker switch attractively illuminates the interior for easy viewing. The interior is constructed from white powder-coated metal to ensure added durability and better temperature retention.
The Summit ARG8PVDR Upright Vaccine Storage Refrigerator comes in a white cabinet finish with a blue accented control panel. The factory-installed antimicrobial handle is powder-coated with naturally occurring silver ions, which help to reduce the spread of germs, allowing for a safer, cleaner user experience. The double-pane tempered glass door provides a full view of the interior. The user-reversible door ships with a right-hand swing and self-closing function (note: self-closing is disabled once reversed to LHD). This model includes a factory-installed lock and ships with two keys for staff use. Powerful magnetic gaskets ensure a positive seal.
Designed with hydrocarbon refrigerant, the ARG8PVDR provides an energy-efficient solution to vaccine storage. This unit is Pyxis, Omnicell, and AcuDose RX compatible. Additional sizes, door options, and units with a combination of standard shelving and drawers are also available. Explore the full Pharma-Vac series at accucold.com/pharmavac.
NOTE: Accucold refrigerators are purpose-built to the support meeting the current CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines for the storage of vaccines. At this time, Accucold refrigerators have not been evaluated to the new NSF 456 standard. As referenced in the current Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit, these units incorporate microprocessor controls and forced air circulation for stable operation between 2 and 8ºC. For additional temperature assurance, the CDC recommends a calibrated digital data logger (DDL), which can be added with the factory-installed option DL2B or addition of the DL2BKit accessory.

Shipping FAQ
How long does shipping take after placing an order?
Typical dispatch is 5-7 days in many cases for this model when in stock; transit time will depend on destination and freight carrier.
Is international shipping available and what should I consider for Melbourne, Australia?
Yes — international shipping can be arranged. For delivery to Melbourne you should consider:
• Import duties, customs clearance & Goods & Services Tax (GST)
• Freight access & site clearance: door width, corridor or lift access, floor load capacity
• Local mains/voltage compatibility: this model is rated 115 V AC / 60 Hz, so ensure if you require a 230 V/50 Hz variant or suitable transformer/adaptor
How is the unit packaged for transit and what site requirements should be met?
The unit is palletized and boxed with protective packaging. Unpacked footprint approximately ~127 cm H × ~59 cm W × ~62 cm D; allow for door-swing ~118 cm depth. Ensure the delivery site has a firm level surface, sufficient entry clearance and appropriate handling equipment (pallet jack, lift if required).
What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged or is delayed?
On delivery inspect for visible damage or signs of delay. If damage is found: photograph the condition, keep the packaging and delivery receipt, then contact your supplier or freight company with your order/tracking details to initiate claim or replacement.
Application FAQ
How do I install and set up the ARG8PVDR?
1. Place the unit upright on a firm, level surface in a climate-controlled room. Ensure clearance behind, sides and above for ventilation; allow ~118 cm depth for door swing.
2. Connect to a dedicated grounded power outlet (matching the unit’s specification: 115 V AC/60 Hz). For Australian installation check variant or transformer if needed.
3. Power on and set the temperature target to within +2 °C to +8 °C. Allow several hours (typically 3-6 h) for internal stabilization before loading sensitive contents.
4. Verify the digital control/display is working, set alarms are functioning (high/low temp, door open, power fault), the probe access port is unobstructed and the locking handle is functional prior to regular use.
What best practices should I follow when storing vaccines or sensitive materials?
• Use the full-extension ventilated drawers; avoid blocking airflow or over-packing to maintain uniform internal conditions.
• Clearly label each stored item with date/time, batch or user identification for traceability.
• Minimise door openings, and place frequently accessed items near the front to reduce ambient impact.
• Regularly inspect the door gasket/seal, hinge mechanism and handle/lock; maintain logs of minimum/maximum temperature and any alarm events if required by your facility’s protocol.
What should I do if a temperature excursion or power interruption occurs?
If internal temperature rises above or falls below the safe range (+2 °C to +8 °C), or if power is interrupted:
• Record the event including date/time, observed temperature, and impacted contents.
• Immediately relocate critical items to validated backup refrigeration until conditions stabilize.
• Investigate and correct root cause (e.g., door left open, ambient heat load, sensor/power fault).
• Once the unit returns to normal operation and the internal temperature stabilizes within range, verify readings and then return items.
What maintenance and verification routines are recommended?
• Monthly: Inspect door gasket/seal, hinges and handle/lock condition.
• Quarterly: Clean condenser coils and ventilation pathways; ensure fan/airflow is unobstructed and dust-free.
• Periodically: Test audible/visual alarms, probe access port and remote alarm contacts; calibrate sensors if required. Maintain service/calibration logs, internal temperature logs and alarm-event history for audit-readiness.
