Summit Medical Refrigerator Freezer Description:
Accucold offers innovative solutions to vaccine storage with our Performance Series stackable purpose-built refrigerator-freezer combinations designed to support meeting CDC/VFC guidelines.
Sized just under 20″ wide, the Summit ARS8PV-AFZ1PVSTACK Medical Refrigerator Freezer combines the 8 cu.ft. ARS8PV auto defrost all-refrigerator with the 1.4 cu.ft. AFZ1PV all-freezer into one slim footprint using Accucold’s StackRack. This ships in three boxes and requires some minor assembly upon delivery.
The Pharma-Vac Performance Series is designed to meet the demanding needs of vaccine storage. Both units utilize a microprocessor temperature controller (refrigerator range: +2 to +8ºC; freezer range: -30 to -10ºC). The buffered temperature probe is encased in a glycol-filled bottle to better simulate temperature of the stored product, with an additional sensor that reads air temperature to ensure superior temperature control. The current and min/max temperature display is viewable in Celsius or Fahrenheit to the nearest tenth of a degree. The audible and visual temperature alarms sound if the units’ interiors go out of range. Additional alarms include a power failure alert, door open alarm, and sensor failure alarm. Both units are equipped with remote alarm contacts in the rear and a 1/2″ probe port on the right side to accept additional monitoring devices. The factory-installed antimicrobial handles are powder-coated with naturally occurring silver ions, which help to reduce the spread of germs, allowing for a safer, cleaner user experience. A hospital grade cord with ‘green dot’ plug is also included for added safety in high traffic areas.
Inside, the ARS8PV refrigerator utilizes adjustable cycle defrost operation to avoid temperature spikes. Optimized forced air cooling with an internal fan ensures excellent temperature stability and uniformity with rapid recovery after door openings. The adjustable plastic-coated wire shelves can be positioned at 1/2″ increments to accommodate virtually any sized item. This unit includes LED internal lighting with an on/off rocker switch. The interior is constructed from white powder coated metal to ensure added durability and better temperature retention.
Freezer model AFZ1PV can be installed on top of the refrigerator with our stacking rack. This freezer utilizes static manual defrost operation. It comes with two adjustable shelves.
Both units include front-mounted keyed locks and powerful magnetic gaskets to ensure a positive seal, with self-closing doors for added protection in high traffic settings.
NOTE: Accucold refrigerators are purpose-built to the support meeting the current CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines for the storage of vaccines. As referenced in the current Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit, these units incorporate microprocessor controls and forced air circulation for stable operation between 2 and 8ºC. For additional temperature assurance, the CDC recommends a calibrated digital data logger (DDL), which can be added with the factory-installed option DL2B or addition of the DL2BKit accessory.

Shipping FAQ
How long does shipping take after placing an order?
Estimated shipping lead time: 1–2 business days when unit is in stock and ready for dispatch.
Is international shipping available and what should I consider for Melbourne, Australia?
Yes — international shipping is available. For delivery to Melbourne, Australia you should consider:
• Import duties, customs clearance and GST.
• Site access: Ensure corridors/doorways/elevators accommodate ~59 cm width × ~62 cm depth and allow sufficient front clearance for full door swing (approx 70–100 cm).
• Electrical compatibility: The US version is rated at 115 V AC / 60 Hz — for Australia (230 V / 50 Hz) you must order the export variant or install a certified step-down transformer by a licensed electrician.
How is the unit packaged for transit and what site requirements should be met?
The unit ships in three boxes (refrigerator, freezer and stacking rack) and is palletized. Unpacked footprint is approx. 184 cm H × 59 cm W × 62 cm D. The delivery path must be clear, level and firm.
What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged or delayed?
On arrival inspect the packaging and unit for visible damage. Photograph any signs of damage, retain the packaging and delivery receipt, and contact your supplier with the order/tracking details to initiate a freight claim or arrange replacement.
Application FAQ
How do I install and set up the ARS8PV-AFZ1PVSTACK?
1. Assemble the unit by installing the included “StackRack” base unit, place the fridge section on the bottom, then secure the freezer section on top per manufacturer instructions.
2. Place the assembled unit upright on a firm, level indoor surface in a climate-controlled room with clearance behind/top and sufficient front door-open clearance (~70–100 cm).
3. Connect to a dedicated grounded outlet matching the variant’s voltage and power supply.
4. Power the unit, set the refrigerator compartment to +2 °C to +8 °C and the freezer compartment to -30 °C to -10 °C, then allow 4–6 hours for temperature stabilization before loading sensitive contents.
What best practices should I follow when using this combined unit?
• Load the refrigerator shelves with proper spacing for airflow; avoid over-packing the compartment.
• Use the freezer section drawers/shelves similarly, ensuring items are not blocking airflow.
• Minimize door-open events for both compartments; rely on the digital display and alarm system for monitoring.
• Label contents with batch number and date/time, and apply first-in/first-out (FIFO) where relevant.
• Inspect door gasket/seal, hinge/lock function monthly, and ensure the unit remains level and clean.
What should I do if a temperature excursion or power interruption occurs?
If either compartment’s internal temperature rises above or falls below target range or power interruption occurs:
• Record date/time, observed temperature deviation and any impacted contents.
• Transfer critical items to validated backup storage until conditions stabilize.
• Investigate cause (door left ajar, ambient load spike, power/sensor fault).
• Once temperatures return to stable range, inspect contents for integrity before resuming normal use.
What maintenance and verification routines are recommended?
• Monthly: Check door gasket/seal, hinges/lock; verify unit remains level.
• Quarterly: Clean the interior and exterior surfaces, verify microprocessor control and any probe ports, review alarm operation.
• Periodically: Download or review logged high/low temperatures (if monitoring enabled), confirm calibration of probes/data loggers, maintain documented service/maintenance logs for compliance.
