Description
Summit General Medical Healthcare Freezer Description:
Accucold’s general purpose storage line includes upright manual defrost freezers designed for the storage of certain enzymes, reagents, samples, and other materials used in laboratory and clinical settings that require -20ºC temperatures with more stability than traditional no-frost equipment.
Summit UFM19W General Medical Healthcare Freezer is a front-opening freezer with an 18.3 cu.ft. interior storage capacity. Manual defrost operation ensures a more stable interior with none of the warming cycles that can compromise temperature in traditional frost-free cooling systems. The dial thermostat is located inside to prevent accidental temperature adjustments, with a thermometer/alarm mounted externally to ensure a readout of the current and high/low interior temperature is visible without opening the door. The temperature probe is encased in glass beads and positioned in a fixed shelf in the center of the unit to best simulate the temperature of stored items. We include an additional probe hole to accommodate additional monitoring equipment. Cantilevered shelving provides more flexibility in storage, with tight spacing between the pilasters so you can adjust as needed. This unit has a flat door liner to accommodate deeper trays. An automatic LED light makes it easy to see the full interior.
This Summit UFM19W General Medical Healthcare Freezer comes in a white exterior finish with a blue accent on the front. The keyed lock is conveniently located towards the top of the unit for easier user access. The reversible door includes an easy-grip handle in a brushed aluminum finish. This unit includes a 9’5″ long power cord with a hospital grade ‘green dot’ plug for a more secure connection, ideal for high traffic environments. The cooling system utilizes hydrocarbon refrigerant for a greener footprint. For advanced insulation, the door features a vacuum seal that keeps all cold air inside.
The Summit UFM19W General Medical Healthcare Freezer meets NSF-7 commercial standards and is ETL listed for the U.S. and Canada. It matches refrigerator model URM19W. It can be customized with additional features to best meet your storage needs, including digital data loggers (DDLs). For more information, contact our product specialists at 718-893-3900.
In addition to this freezer, Accucold manufactures frost-free choices for vaccine and laboratory storage, as well as purpose-built refrigeration lines approved to the NSF/ANSI 456 Vaccine Storage Standard.

Product FAQ
What is the UFM19W and what is it designed for?
The UFM19W is an upright, general-purpose medical/freezer unit offering approximately 518 L (≈ 18.3 cu ft) of interior capacity in a footprint of ~775 mm (≈ 30.5″) width. It is designed for laboratory or clinical storage of samples, enzymes or reagents that benefit from manual-defrost, static cooling environments.
What temperature range and control features does it support?
It supports a preset temperature of roughly -20 °C, with an operating range of about -18 °C to -24 °C. It uses a manual dial thermostat to prevent inadvertent changes and includes an external high/low temperature read-out and a buffered probe positioned at mid-shelf for accurate tracking of stored-product temperature.
What alarm, monitoring and security features are included?
Features include an audible/visual high/low-temperature alarm, an external temperature read-out of current and high/low interior values, a dedicated access port for external monitoring probes, a keyed factory-installed lock, and a sealed vacuum-gasket door structure for enhanced stability.
What construction and usability features support its application?
Includes a hospital-grade “green-dot” power plug, adjustable epoxy-coated wire shelving (4 shelves), LED interior lighting, reversible door swing, vacuum-seal door gasket, front-breathing ventilation for built-in or freestanding placement, and a manual-defrost static cooling system to eliminate warm-up cycles common in frost-free designs.
Shipping FAQ
What are the external dimensions and shipping weight?
Approximate dimensions: 1 830 mm H × 775 mm W × 700 mm D (≈ 72″ × 30.5″ × 27.6″). Shipping weight is about 98 kg (≈ 215 lb).
What electrical and installation requirements apply?
Operates on 115 V AC / 60 Hz with a draw of approximately 2.7 amps. Requires a dedicated grounded outlet, level placement, and sufficient clearance for door swing and ventilation paths.
What steps should be taken during unpacking and placement?
Check the unit upon delivery for visible transit damage; if transported on its side, allow upright settling before powering; check the cabinet is level; ensure door-swing and ventilation clearances are met; test thermostat, alarms and probe before loading contents.
What delivery or shipping method is typical for this model?
Due to its size and professional specification, this model typically ships via palletized freight. Ensure clear access for off-loading, a stable staging area and a level installation site before delivery.
Application FAQ
Is this unit suitable for healthcare or laboratory cold-storage use?
Yes — the UFM19W is built for clinical and research cold-storage applications where a manual-defrost static cooling environment offers greater temperature stability than automatic-defrost units.
What daily best practices should be followed?
Place a calibrated data logger at mid-shelf height, clearly label and rotate stored contents, avoid overpacking shelves to maintain airflow, minimize door-open time, and record internal temperature readings each day as part of your storage protocol.
What routine maintenance is recommended?
Clean the condenser and ventilation fans semi-annually, verify alarm, thermostat and probe operation monthly (or per your facility’s schedule), inspect the gasket seal annually, ensure the unit remains level and ventilation paths are unobstructed.
What should be done in the event of a temperature excursion or alarm?
Document the event time, temperature deviation and which contents were affected; if required relocate items to backup storage; identify and correct the root cause (e.g., door ajar, blocked airflow, power failure); restore proper set-point conditions and log corrective actions per your SOP.
